- Smiling attracts people to you
When you smile you are more approachable so others will be more attracted to you. Being around others is easier and more enjoyable when smiles and laughter are being shared, and people will naturally want to be around you as smiling makes people feel better. As a result you will find more people will want to hang around with you and that will make you feel good too.
- Smiling lifts your mood
When a person is smiling, it affects certain muscles within the body that make you feel happy. The movement of muscles in your face releases chemicals called endorphins which trigger a positive feeling. So even if you are not feeling happy, making yourself smile can change your mood. Smiling can trick your brain into feeling happy so next time you feel a little sad smile and see what a difference it can make.

- Smiling makes you appear more confident
People who smile regularly appear more confident to those who don’t. Have you ever been in a group where you didn’t know anyone and you found it hard to go up and talk to people? Do you then look at people who don’t seem to struggle with this and wish that it was you who was getting along with people so easily? Well next time have a look at what they are doing, I bet you anything they are smiling… and here is the thing, they are probably just as nervous as you are, but because they are smiling people warm to them more. Try it out for yourself and see if people act differently towards you.

- Smiles can ease pain
Have you heard the saying laughter is the best medicine? Well there is so much truth in that. A team of scientists found people laughing at comedy films were able to keep their hands in ice water longer than those who were not laughing. This is because laughter forms a distraction to control the pain and so makes you less aware of it. Another study showed that children in hospitals who were visited by story-tellers and puppeteers who made them smile and laugh had higher white blood cell counts than those children who weren’t visited. So the saying laughter is the best medicine is one we should always remember when we aren’t feeling our best.
- Smiles are catching
It’s true, I challenge you to not smile if someone is not smiling at you or having a belly laugh at something, you can’t help but join in with them. We have mentioned some of the benefits to smiling so why wouldn’t you want to share these feelings with everyone in your life. When you are smiling you are actually inviting people to join in and be happy with you so why not do it as often as possible and help lift everyone’s vibrations as much as you can.
So now that we have shared some of the benefits a smile can have why not make an extra effort to smile as much as possible to yourself and with others and see the difference this simple act can make in peoples lives.
Much Love to you
